Before you can apply for your driving test, you must pass a theory test. This however does not mean you cannot start to learn to drive.

The practical test is on average 40 minutes long, in this time you are allowed to make up to 15 minor mistakes, above this figure will result in a fail. If you make 1 dangerous or serious fault, this will result in a fail.
Before the test, you will first complete an eyesight test, and be asked to read a vehicle registration plate on a parked car. You will then be asked questions about the car, this is called ‘Show and Tell’.
Your driving part of your test will then begin, this will involve:
- Your general driving ability, the examiner will give you various instructions to follow.
- Your ability to reverse your car safely, also known as manoeuvres.
Independent driving, following signs and navigating yourself from A to B.
